spacerWhen planning your trip you should:

  • 1. Book early to get the dates you want.
  • 2. If possible try to fish during the week (there is less fishing pressure on the river).

 What to bring on your trip

  • 1. Warm hunting type clothing and rain gear (camouflage if possible, no bright colors)
  • 2. Winter hat & gloves
  • 3. Waders or hip boots
  • 4. Sorel type hunting boots
  • 5. Polarized Sun glasses
  • 6. Camera-Video OK
  • 7. Large cooler to take home 10-40 pounds of fish
  • 8. Lunch and beverage in smaller cooler for boat
  • 9. Have valid New York State fishing license bought the night before the trip, buy over the phone with Visa ahead of time at 1-518-457-8862. You will be told at check-in what time to meet in the morning to go fish-this means already have breakfast eaten and thermos filled so we can get out on the water!

  • 10. Also, you can bring your own tackle to fish on your own, the day before or after your float trip. The Salmon River is right across the street from the
    Fish On! Motel, where our tavern is right on the bank. Bring 8'-10' Light Noodle Rods with 6-8 lb. test for Steelheads and 8'-10' Light to Medium Action Rods with 10-14 lb. test for Salmon.

You can purchase all tackle needed within a block of the motel.
