 It
may be cold early on in January and February, but it also
brings some very good fishing if you are
flexible.
At
Fish
On! Motel, we don't
stick just to the Salmon River, we also fish the Oswego and
Black Rivers, and some other secret spots with our boats. We
fish where the most fish are! Most of the time, we backtroll
deep diving lures like Hotshots and Rapalas, but on days
when conditions allow and clients want to cast, we throw egg
sacs and worms and catch trophy steelhead and brown trout
with light line and noodle rods.
(We also have fly fishing
guides available.)
P.S. A steelhead is also
known as a giant rainbow trout.
Remember...Mike
runs driftboat trips for steelhead into the 1st week in May.
Most years these last 3 weeks are the warmest of the year,
and a lot of times the absolute
best fishing
of the year.
Also, around the 1st Saturday
of May when the steely fishing starts to slow, it brings us
right into -
MONSTER WALLEYE
FISHING!!
(7-14 lbs. walleye average)
We
also catch brown brout (4-20 lbs.), on our walleye trips. We
will be fishing for both of these giants, usually at night,
right into July.
